Flaiano: the best is past

the movie poster

"F Laiano: the best is past" . This is the title of the documentary sull'indimenticato author and screenwriter, screened last night at Cinema Nuovo Olimpia, in the heart of Rome.

The two authors, Giancarlo Rolandi and Steve House, presented the film briefly, thanking the many employees in the audience as well as absent, including, in the double role of voice narrator and actor, Elio Germano, to embody a wonder some texts Flaiano taste blood and surprising ... and to mention them here would be an injustice against the movie, we recommend to all.
But perhaps the biggest surprise was that to see emerge at the side of the two directors also known as twice as much loved: Giuliano Montaldo and Sandra Milo, precious evidence of a cinema and a world difficult to repeat, who recalled with a hint of nostalgia for the writer, the writer, and friend Flaiano.

But back to "Flaiano: the best is past."
often tinged with hagiography, the biographical documentaries are likely to pose a carousel end in himself, and who wants to learn more is forced to resort to specific texts.
In this case, the shadow of a true giant like Flaiano , the risk was high.
But starting from the tumultuous and profitable relationship between Flaiano and Fellini, and cleverly dodged an attempt at completeness, the film by Giancarlo Della Casa Rolandi and Steve was able to give the audience a very accurate three-dimensional image of the author Pescara, in some unusual aspects, and populated with ideas and visions are ill suited to the classic documentary (and, personally, we liked a lot).
No space to pedantry, to involuntary teachings, but rather a clever use of half-tones, the words and jokes so dear to Flaiano same. That no one takes seriously, really!

The film loved it and we were glad to experience it in the historic Roman room in the company of an audience that at some point has not been able to stay open by a big round of applause at the scene, which is now rare and unique. We like to imagine that Flaiano, shielding, would surely have muttered something very caustic and very funny.
